Tajikistan intends to toughen punishment for torture
The Government of Tajikistan has submitted draft amendments to the Criminal Code of the Republic to the country's parliament, according to which the punishment for torture will be toughened, reported in lower house of parliament of Tajikistan. If amendments are adopted, persons accused of torture will be imprisoned for a term of five to seven years.

The current Criminal Code of Tajikistan for the use of torture in order to obtain confession or information provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment from two to five years.
