As Asia-Plus reports, new duties and fees, along with increased rates and reduced tax exemptions, have boosted state budget revenues in Tajikistan, according to Customs Service head Khurshed Karimzoda at a press conference. He noted that legislative changes were implemented during 2025–2026.

New revenue sources include: a duty on imported mobile phones (June 2025); a recycling fee for vehicles (December 2025); a battery recycling fee (September 2025); an export duty on ores and concentrates; higher duties on ceramic imports (November 2025); environmental payments on imported petroleum products; and increased duties on air conditioners and chandeliers (July 2026). Karimzoda said the ceramic duty hike supports domestic production.

In 2026, the VAT exemption for imports of technology, equipment, and materials for poultry, fish farming, and feed production was reduced from 75% to 50% of the established rate. This cut generated an additional 225.2 million somoni for the budget. In the first half of 2026, the Customs Service transferred 7.8 billion somoni to the budget, exceeding the plan by 549.7 million somoni (7.6%) and up 36.6% from the same period in 2025.
